, Chibli Mallat, want to be president for all Lebanese.  My presidency is one that would bring the Lebanese together, onto a higher stage of democracy, and return the country to its historic position in the forefront of nations, not only regionally but internationally. 

I propose that this campaign, through a competitive and open process, brings people to the debate so that the best candidate wins on account of declared program, achievements, and power of persuasion.

I can offer to the Lebanese people a presidency that is efficient – open – inclusive – creative – learned –  and incorruptible.  A presidency that takes the best from our religious traditions and diversity for equal citizenships, and weakens the worst sectarian atavisms and hatreds.  

A presidency to be founded on unimpeachable credentials in Lebanon, the Arab region, and the world. A presidency that will allow Lebanon, strong with a non-violent movement across the board that culminated on 14 March 2005 , to claim its place among nations as a prosperous, peaceful and varied society which  leads economically, sets the example politically, and makes an eternal mark culturally.
